These two communities are known for being the doors to the Amazon. There is tourism, but the local inhabitants have been neglected by the development that has taken place. There are few facilities to care for the needs of the local population. It is within these facilities that the work of the volunteers or interns are strongly needed.
This foundation FUNDAR is devoted to keeping the local culture alive in a protected area where the visitor can see the homes in the original state and the vegetation as it was before the jungle was opened. This place is willing to accept volunteers or interns to share the activities. Living is possible with families in the area. The atmosphere is safe, but the living conditions are rather primitive.
